The MPH in Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences program prepares students to recognize, analyze and control environmental and occupational threats to health in a scientific framework. Students learn to assess and measure exposures to environmental and occupational hazards, examine the relationships between exposures and health outcomes in built, natural, and social contexts and develop control strategies to remediate these exposures.

The MS in Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences program prepares students for careers in the growing field of Industrial Hygiene. Students gain the scientific framework and technical skills to assess and measure exposures to environmental and occupational hazards and to develop control strategies to remediate these exposures, with the ultimate aim of ensuring that workplaces in every field, from offices to schools to factories, are safe and healthy environments.

Students entering the MS in Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences are encouraged to apply for financial support from one of the following two scholarship programs:

• The National Institute of Occupational Health and Safety (NIOSH) Scholarship
• National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences Research Assistantship

The Advanced Certificate in Industrial Hygiene is designed to provide working professionals with the skills required to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control occupational hazards. The program will prepare students to function in a wide range of occupational settings, including medical and academic environments, public health and environmental agencies, industrial, and corporate. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for the American Board of Industrial Hygiene's (ABIH) Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) exam. Coursework completed in this program will meet ABIH's eligibility requirement for academic content hours.

The Advanced Certificate in Environmental and Occupational Epidemiology will provide students with the conceptual knowledge and the practical statistical skills to evaluate the role of chemical exposures in human health. Grounded  in the research methods applied throughout public health in the private  sector and by state and federal agencies, this program will enhance careers in public health, environmental health, regulatory sciences, and  occupational settings including factories, housing, transportation, and  medical organizations/agencies.

The Advanced Certificate in Environmental Risk Assessment will provide students with advanced knowledge and practical skills in assessing exposure hazards and evaluating disease risks associated with environmental and occupational chemical agents. Grounded in the risk assessment framework developed by the National Academic of Sciences and widely used by state and federal agencies, this program provides a strong foundation for careers in environmental health, regulatory science, and public health protection.
